The Three Hostages
Whilst considering possible projects in 1964, Hitchcock re-read the John Buchan book, "The Three Hostages", but was unable to secure the film rights. This was the fourth of five Richard Hannay novels penned by Buchan and involved a villain whose blind mother hypnotises the hero.
